Good morning, everyone. It’s my honor to stand here. Today I will share my experience about reading the book?Kid lawyer. My presentation is divided into three parts. The first part is the summary of this book. This book tells a story of Theo. He is only thirteen years old. This book gives us a vivid account of a sophisticated murder trial, which only Theo know the truth of. The boy dreams of being a trial lawyer, aiming to help others.
The boy impressed me upon my mind with his legal thinking. Before I?talk him, I’d like to show you some legal terms first. Through reading this?book, I have a good idea of law words, which I have never known before. It can?be seen that this compelling book abounds in law terms.
My friends, do you know the meanings of these words? If you do not know,?you can look them up in the dictionary. Well, let’s move to the second part-legal thinking. Here legal thinking is a way of analyzing. I will use Theo as?an example to illustrate the core value of legal thinking, which is to be?suspicious.
In this book, when the teacher asked studentswho attended the trial to vote for the Mr. Duffy’s guilty. Theo gave up voting. He did believe Mr. Duffy’s guilty, but he did not see how the state could proveits case. He held the idea that the proof should be based on the evidencerather the maybe statement. From this little thing, you can analyze the reasonwhy Theo is the champion who knows the whole truth. The key is to besuspicious. Theo did not vote because he insisted the rule of suspicious. Here Suspiciousmeans the idea that you are inclined to believe something wrong, on the groundthat you may possess the evidence which can rely on. While doubtful is totallydifferent from suspicious, it means you feel uncertain about something. One offamous jurist said that Laws are made to protect the trusting as well as thesuspicious. We may conclude that the awareness of suspicious is of extremeimportance to the Law. What we should do is be suspicious.
The last part is?theme of this book- justice. What impressed me most is the ceremony that before
the witness present, they have to oath with hands on the bible. It is the?symbol of the justice. In a nutshell, we should observe the law rules.
