One thing I like the most in Credit Suisse is the people here. In our team, we have people from different countries like India, China, Singapore, Australia, Russia and the UK. They brought in different culture, but work very closely together. It requires us to be professional, open minded, respectful and caring to each other. As a global financial firm, I think CS did very good job to maintain a good work environment. They even put this into compliance training course for new joiners. Everyone is encouraged to speak out their ideas, and there is a framework for you to report anything you think is wrong.
In CS, if a junior staff wants to talk to the management, he/she can just make an appointment directly to the department director, and the department director will always make a time for this kind of meeting. It happened even the meeting appointment was submitted by a intern. I'm working directly with a Vice Precedent myself, it just like working with my buddy, nothing different.
Although I feel CS is a good place to work, some colleagues are leaving. This is very common in the first month, I received 4 goodbye letters. Some people went to another company for one or two years and then come back to get a huge salary bump. It is becoming a common way to accelerate your salary, because if you say here forever, you can get a very good but very stable salary, the increment is only about 5% each year. However, if you go to another company and come back, the increment sometimes can be more than 50% in 4 to 5 years. More people are doing this now, even I am planning for my salary increasing project in next 3 years.
