在這次的盤點中，我們會一起看到“新概念”課文中出現(xiàn)的五種“神奇”的動物：
NO.5 Snail
出處：“新概念”三冊 第23課
事跡：逃脫紙袋子的束縛狼电，占領整個大廳蜒灰，讓作者無法直視
原文：I happened to be walking in my garden when I noticed a huge number of snails taking a stroll on some of my prize plants. ... To our dismay, we saw that there were snails everywhere：they had escaped from the paper bag and had taken complete possession of the hall！ I have never been able to look at a snail since then.
點評：這篇課文里對于蝸牛有一個非常精辟的評價肩碟，就是No creature has received more praise and abuse than the common garden snail.這里的receive praise and abuse就是“毀譽參半”的意思强窖。你吃過蝸牛嗎？喜歡嗎削祈？我是一直挺不喜歡蝸牛的翅溺，直到吃過一次之后... ...
NO.4 Elephant（Jumbo）
出處：“新概念”二冊 第65課
事跡：一頭小象對抗一大堆警察，霸氣
原文：A policeman approached Jimmy and told him he ought to have gone along a side street as Jumbo was holding up the traffic. Though Jimmy agreed to go at once髓抑，Jumbo refused to move. Fifteen policemen had to push very hard to get him off the main street.
點評：這是一個有愛的故事咙崎，小象的主人是去給兒童醫(yī)院的孩子們送圣誕禮物的：Dressed up as Father Christmas and accompanied by a 'guard of honour' of six pretty girls，he set off down the main street of the city riding a baby elephant called Jumbo. 我覺得最有愛的吨拍，就是 a 'guard of honour' of six pretty girls ...
NO.3 Cat（Sabrina）
出處：“新概念”三冊 第9課
事跡：從32樓掉下來褪猛，幾乎安然無恙
原文：One cat，Sabrina羹饰，fell 32 storeys伊滋，yet only suffered from a broken tooth. ... It seems that the further cats fall, the less they are likely to injure themselves. At high speeds, falling cats have time to relax. They stretch out their legs like flying squirrels.
點評：“新概念”的作者Alexander好像特別喜歡貓，貓出現(xiàn)在課文中的頻率絕對超過其他動物队秩。在這篇課文里笑旺，有一句非常漂亮的表達，never fail to do sth.馍资，大家可以找找看筒主，整本三冊里面，這個表達一共出現(xiàn)了多少次鸟蟹。
NO.2 Fish
出處：“新概念”二冊 第82課
事跡：成為了海員物舒、水手口中常常出現(xiàn)的談資
原文：It had a head like a horse，big blue eyes戏锹，shining silver skin冠胯，and a bright red tail. The fish，which has since been sent to a museum where it is being examined by a scientist锦针，is called an oarfish.
點評：作者在標題里已經(jīng)問了荠察，Monster or fish置蜀？這還能不是神獸嘛... ...我自己教這課的時候，其實也搞明白這個oarfish是什么個鬼樣子悉盆，但在網(wǎng)上查了一下盯荤，發(fā)現(xiàn)的確可以說是monster，不信的話焕盟，大家親自去感受一下它的尊容... ...
NO.1 Puma
出處：“新概念”三冊 第1課
事跡：偷偷跑了出來秋秤，一會兒上樹，一會兒潛伏脚翘，咬死小動物灼卢，嚇壞好多人
原文：The search proved difficult，for the puma was often observed at one place in the morning and at another place twenty miles away in the evening. Wherever it went来农，it left behind it a trail of dead deer and small animals like rabbits. Paw prints were seen in a number of places and puma fur was found clinging to bushes. Several people complained of ‘cat-like noises’?at night and a businessman on a fishing trip saw the puma up a tree.
點評：接觸過“新概念”的人還有不知道puma的鞋真？快點兒，跟我一起大聲背出來：Pumas are large沃于，cat-like animals which are found in America. When reports came into London Zoo that a wild puma had been spotted forty-five miles south of London ...
