emerge有浮現(xiàn)瓜浸,顯露的意思。在這個情境中秋冰,我還不能很好地理解這個詞仲义,望大家解惑。
這個話中的 the self= the person,這個表達可以積累剑勾。
4.pompous
We are a society strangling in unnecessary words, circular constrcutions, pompous frills and meaningless jargon.
pompous: 虛華的埃撵;言辭浮夸的
eg. His manner was informal, without a trace of pomposity.
5.muddy
It's impossible for a muddy thinker to write good English.
muddy: 這里的意思是 confused and not clear
6.“Not if I can help it”
"Do you put symbolism in your writing?" a student asked me.
“Not if I can help it” I replied.
eg. It couldn't be helped (=there was no way of avoinding it and we must accept it.) 這是不可避免的
“Not if I can help it” means i will not use it, if it is necessary. 作者這樣寫可以說是非常簡潔到位了。
My thinking
1.作者通過和他人想法的對照來開篇虽另,既能吸引人的注意力又很好地闡釋了自己的觀點暂刘。值得學(xué)習(xí)。
2.寫作過程中要頭腦清晰捂刺,問自己“what am i trying to say?” 而不是 "have i said it?"
3. 寫作要反復(fù)反復(fù)修改谣拣。寫論文的時候你也要這樣做。
4.不要給自己的偷懶找借口叠萍,像寫作一樣hard的事還很多芝发,要有規(guī)劃。不要太把自己的興趣當(dāng)回事苛谷,換句話說,有些你不那么感興趣的事可能能幫助你更好地突破自己格郁。
