The stage is set against the backdrop of night sky, and with the lighting alternately in bright and dim, a black-and-silver striped male cat stretches his body, slowly and softly introducing Gumbie cat in baritone to a gathering of cats. When he slides in a semicircle to a huge box while singing about Gumbie cat's preference for sitting and lying, the lid is slowly lifted and here rises the lounged Gumbie cat.
On one side of the stage, three female cats in red, silver and black are singing her night duties when Gumbie cat rolls from the inside of the box to the ground. She guides the four mice with pointed mouths to sit in a line and teaches them music, crocheting and tatting. Then the center again switches back to the male cat. He repeats Gumbie cat's love for sitting or lying on anything flat and smooth, and Gumbie cat crawls onto the ground to corroborate with the description. While the male cat strokes through Gumbie cat's long tail, the trio of girls are dancing in Jazz moves narrating Gumbie cat's night work for cockroaches.
Suddenly, the style of music changes into jazz and Gumbie cat shakes off her clumsy outer coat, dancing joyfully and briskly with a row of roaches. Her golden appearance shines under the multicolored lights. The whole stage is immersed in a climax of joy and excitement.
