Some people think the qualities a person needs to become successful in today's world cannot be learned at a university or similar academic institutions. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

I quite approve of the standpoint that a person cannot acquire the qualities to be successful in today's world at a university or similar academic institutions. Actually, before any individual further his education at a university or similar academic institutions, he must have learned a series of vital qualities to be successful, among which the following four are not cultivated or learned at a university.

To begin with, one of the most essential qualities to become successful is perseverance, which cannot be learned in academia. Successful people, entrepreneurs without university education in particular, inevitably face emotionally draining challenges, setbacks, even declaring bankruptcy during their quest for business success; nevertheless, they persevere to pursue their dreams even when their situations appear bleak.

Besides perseverance, those successful individuals have lifelong passion for very long-term goals. Passion is another significant quality of highly successful people, which cannot be learned in academic world. With incredible passion to keep working towards their goals, people can transcend any handicap, accomplish any feat, and achieve success. A wonderful example is Nick Vujicic, born with no arms and no legs; nevertheless, with his passion for life, he has transformed from a person without limbs to a person without limitations and his success inspires numerous people.

Furthermore, individuals cannot learn patience and persistence in academic world, which are also crucial qualities to become successful. For example, Steven Spielberg was rejected by university multiple times; however, with his perseverance, passion, patience and persistence for his dream, he eventually became one of the most successful filmmakers in the world.

In general, the world's greatest achievers are those who have stayed persevere, passionate, patient, and persistent on their goals. These qualities cannot be learned in academia. （285 words）
