1.Life is suffering.
2.Discipline is the basic set of tools we require to solve problems.Without discipline we can solve nothing. With only some discipline we can solve only some problems. with total discipline we can solve all problems.
3.Problems demand us to grow.They
are the cutting edge that distinguishes between success and failure.
4. We tend to skirt around problems rather than meet them head on. We attempt to get out of them rather than suffer through them.
5.Four ways to be self-disciplined:delaying of gratification,acceptance of responsibility,dedication to reality,balaning.
(1) delaying of gratification is the process of scheduling the pain and pleasure of life in such a way as to enhance the pleasure by meeting and experiencing the pain first and getting it over with.
For children to develop the capacity to delay gratification,it is necessary for them to have self-disciplined role models, a sense of self-worth,and a degree ot trust in the safety of their existence.
(2)The responsibility problems:neurosis or character disorder. The former assumes too much responsibility while the other too less. And most of us have more or less both of them.
The difficulty in accepting responsibility for our behavior lies in the desire to avoid the pain of the consequences of that behavior.
（3）dedication to reality
The life of wisdom must be a life of contemplation combined with action.
