3.4 Harnessing Your Zombies to Help You

harness

If you harness something such as an emotion or natural source of energy, you bring it under your control and use it.

override

If one thing in a situation overrides other things, it is more important than them.

If someone rewires a building or an electrical appliance, a new system of electrical wiring is put into it.

_potent _

Something that is potent is very effective and powerful.

savour=savor

If you savour an experience, you enjoy it as much as you can.

_internal _

Internal is used to describe things that exist or happen inside a country or organization.

indulge

If you indulge in something or if you indulge yourself, you allow yourself to have or do something that you know you will enjoy.

Latte

Latte is strong coffee made with hot milk.

utterly

You use utterly to emphasize that something is very great in extent, degree, or amount.

frivolous

If you describe someone as frivolous, you mean they behave in a silly or light-hearted way, rather than being serious and sensible.

spur

If one thing spurs you to do another, it encourages you to do it.

drudgery

You use drudgery to refer to jobs and tasks which are boring or unpleasant but which must be done.

unfold

If a situation unfolds, it develops and becomes known or understood.

underpin

If one thing underpins another, it helps the other thing to continue or succeed by supporting and strengthening it.

• The first one is the cue. Recognize what launches you into your zombie procrastination mode. Cuesusually fall into one of the four following categories:

  1. Location
  2. Time
     3.How you feel, and
     4.Reactions 【either to other people or to something that just happened】
     You can prevent the most damaging cues by shutting off your cell phone or keeping yourself away from the internet and other distractions for brief periods of time, as when you're doing a pomodoro.
