Part 1 Thoughts
本章介紹了蘇的出生地--眉山。
眉山的地理位置帽馋，蘇家和程家（蘇軾母親系）的家庭情況片拍，也說到了蘇軾的出生。還重點提到蘇軾的爺爺封字，樂觀，不識字耍鬓，但有深藏不入的才華阔籽，而且樂于助人。蘇軾除了酒量牲蜀，其他都有老爺子的基因笆制。
為了讓外國人也看懂這本書，林語堂也特別介紹了很多中國的傳統(tǒng)涣达，如中國的年齡算法（我們稱“虛歲”）在辆，寫文章需避諱長輩的名字等证薇。

原文：The river received its name from its color, for it was a deep crystal blue in winter , while in summer the torrents coming down from the mountains turned it into a murky yellow.

原文：In the little family garden there was a great variety of flower and fruit trees,while outside the wall stood a grove of hundreds of bamboo trees.

3. grant
原文：He had always wanted a boy , and now his wish was granted.
譯：granted在文中意思是“得到滿足”。它還有“允許开缎，答應棕叫，賜予林螃，承認”的意思奕删。
常用的詞組take it for granted意思為“當然；把…當成理所當然”
造：The government had granted them permission to leave the country.
