About the story: Rosie the hen leaves the chicken coop and sets out for a little walk. Right behind her is the fox, slyly trying to catch up with her. Rosie’s walk is quiet, uneventful and eventually leads her back to the coop, blissfully unware of the fox’s travails as he tries—unsuccessfully— to navigate the obstacle course that Rosie has led him through.
I read the book for Simon and Libby last night, they enjoyed the story very much. There are only 32 words in the book, but it is a broadly humorous book for the very young. Actually they both know what would happen while they looked at the pictures. I read slowly and repeatedly so that they can pick up some new words.
Rosie the hen walked across the yard. The fox pounced on her. but he stepped on a rake. Bam! The rake hit him heavily.
Rosie walked around the pond. The fox pounced on her. Splash! The fox fell into the water.
Rosie walked over the haystack. the fox walked after her quietly. Crash! He plunged in the haystack.
Rosie’s foot caught a thread when she walked pass the mill, the fox walked after her quietly. A bag of flour poured on him.
Rosie walked? through a fence. The fox pounced on her, but he jumped on a trolley. Rosie walked under the beehives nicely. The fox on the trolley knocked the beehives over. Finally,the angry bees chased the fox away. Rosie walked back home in time for her dinner.
The kids laughed at the fox every time when he got into trouble.? After reading the book, the kids still wanted to look at the pictures of the fox.
