1. rustle sth up
Don't worry. I'll rustle us up some pancakes for lunch, all right?
rustle up, to make a meaal quickly
dic: I 'll rustle up a couple of steaks on the barbecue.
my: I'll rustle up a cup of coffee for you.
2. blink at sb
I blinked at her, then look at my dad.
blink at, shut your eyes and very quickly open them again.
dic: She was blinking her eyes rapidly.
my: He blinked at me.
3. gurgle at
She gurgled at him until he patted her hand and said...
gurgle at, 咯咯笑
dic: The baby was gurgling happily.
my: The children were gurgling happily.
4. manage a smile
I managed a smile and whispered, "Nice to meet you," but all I got in return was a suspicious scowl.
manage a smile or a greeting, means that it was difficult for them to do it because they were feeling sad or upset.
dic: Now is the time to forge ahead with all the enthusiasm and optimism that you can manage.
my: He was upset, managing a weak smile.
5. break into a smile
David's face broke into a smile.
break into a smile/ a song/ applause etc, suddenly start smiling, singing etc.
dic: Her face broke into a smile.
my: The audience broke into a smile when the clown appeared.
6. bob your head
Uncle David's head bobbed up and down.
bob your head, you move it quickly up and down once, for example when you greet someone.
dic: The young man smiled with a bob of his head.
my: He bobbed his head to me.
7. budge
My dad pulled him by the arm, but David wouldn't budge.
budge, change an attitude or opinion.
dic: Once he's made up his mind, he never budges.
my: They wouldn't budge.
8. chuckle
Dad chuckled.
chuckle, laugh quietly.
dic: He chuckled at her forthrightness.
my: He gave a little chuckle.
9. grin
He said with a grin.
grin, smile broadly.
dic: He grins, delighted at the memory.
my: He grinned at me.
Part 2 Summary
Juli and his father paid a visit to her uncle for his birthday. This is the first time that Juli stayed with her uncle and tried to know about him. But it's actually a little exhausted. After going home, they were notified by her mother that Patsy' family invite them over for dinner, which made Juli surprised and happy. But she was upset again when shen found the record dialogue between Bryce and Garrett talking abouth her stuff at school. She decided never, eber going to talk to Bryce again.
