Today, an intern girl named Fei, who is going to graduate from Harvard in July, had a public speaking in our company. She shared her experiences living in America for ten years.
It is a very happy and relaxed time for me during her speech that can help me leave troubles and bathering things alone. Now it is a gorgeous story happening in this girl.
Are you a fob ?
Fei went to America beginning her College life after high school graduated. That means she was 16-year-old living outside lonely without any familiar? friends even familiar skin color. She couldn't understand her classmates thoes native guys who speak? quickly.
Fortunately, she was able to follow the class because teachers have to control the space of a class and make sure that students can catch up with the step and digest these lessons. For her, this is the phase one struggling in english world.
But it just lasted for three months. I think this period of life would be hard for her although she never said that. People feel lonely, depressed, anxious and inferiority when they are in a completely strange environment without any friends.
I had that feelings as a resident students when I went to middle school in? eleven. Besides, she lived in abroad and had to confront the culture shock.
She is very courageous and adaptable. As local called, she was a fob at the? beginning of American campus life.
No, I am not a fob !
Gradually, Fei had friends and used to campus life. She mastered the basic skills helping her making friends, communicate with natives and do many things that can't happen at start.
From that moment, she really started to live normally on campus and make friends. Speaking English fluently is necessary for TA. But for her, it's not the problem.
As a teaching assistant, she was responsible for teaching freshman at the specific time. Although her students complained a little about her rusty, she reversed that situation in the next semester and became better and better in teaching as well as developed a strong logical mind in public speaking. After graduated from campus, Fei went to Harvard for her Ph.D.
I am a good speaker !
Fei is a very good speaker. Obviously, she got lots of experience in teaching, which is the best way to express yourself clearly because you have to focus on your topic and organize complex information systematically and finally explain them to others.
You see, skills come from your experience. When I congratulated her on the good public speech, she said she seemed to get some experience from TA . In order to get our attention at first, Fei showed us many beautiful pictures and separatly introduced them for us. Every picture has an interesting story fascinating us.
Due to her hard-picked pitures and careful preparation, the speech was very perfect and had a happy ending.
I appreciate her speaking for us, so I think I should do something for the speech. This article is for Fei.
