When I was a kid, my schoolmates gave me nicknames based on my real name or recent behaviour. Sometimes I was fine with thembut most of the time, I was upset by?what I perceived to beoffensive names.
When we lived in the UK, Brian was hardly given nicknames by others. Everyone called him by his middle name, Brian, as his first name, Zhoucan, was hard to pronounce for the locals. Three years ago, we moved back to Chongqing in China, and the kids started attending school in September 2020.
At ?the new school, there have been many new challengesand being given nicknames is one of them. Brian has been given several nicknames based on his name or skin colour. Sometimes,he was annoyedbut he eventually, heaccepted it and started giving nicknames to other people as well.
