Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen
It is a light-hearted teen novel which depicts a loving story between two narrators, Juli Baker and? Bryce Loski. While? teenagers are most likely to flip over the opposite sex, the gutsy girl Juli met and made friends with her new neighbor Bryce and then started know more about his character from second grade to the eighth.
Through this book, readers will see not only how two protagonists grow up and their phycological activities in different stages, but also learn some knowledge of how to take care of one’s family and be neighborly friendly in America.
This book is enriched by the notion “ the whole being greater than the sum of its parts”, and several resonant words such as? “Some of us get dipped in flat, some in satin, some in gloss… but every once in a while you find someone who is iridescent, and when you do, nothing will ever compare.”? and “Sometimes a little discomfort in the beginning can save a whole lot of pain down the road” etc.
I appreciate the wise choice and wonderful ending of Juli, and hope to have the same guts and wisdom as Juli when love’s coming.
