Today is Saturday.
Despereaux told himself a story of his life to make himself brave. The spool of thread went away from the mouse downstairs far faster than Despereaux's speed. Despereaux just could hold the rat's tail and follow him. There were many tufts of hair, bones of human, knots of thread and grinning skulls on the floor of the dungeon. There were many rats in the dungeon too. They were very excited to see the scared little mouse, whose smell was mixed of soup, blood, flour and oil.
