獻上一段English Pod的一篇, The weekend- Road trip, 一對夫妻在準備出游和出游路上的對話……
Tom: So, are we all ready to go?
Mary: Yup, I think so. The car's packed; we have munchies and music, and the map's in the car.
Tom: Did you get the camera?
Mary: Got it! Did you fill up the tank?
Tom: Yup, it's all set.
Mary: You're sure we're not forgetting anything?
Tom: I'm sure... we've got all our bases covered.
Mary: Well, let's get going then! I love road trips!
(路上開了十分鐘之后……）
Mary: Um... do you think we can make a pit stop?
Tom: But we've only been on the road for ten minutes.
Mary: I know, but I forgot to go to the bathroom before we left.
Word&Expressions
1. road trip 公路旅行憔晒。 想出去走走藻肄，但又沒有目的地？來段公路旅行可以拒担，地圖上隨便指個地方嘹屯，拿起車鑰匙就走。說起來从撼，家里掛個地圖應該很不錯……
2. munchies: 小零食州弟，輕簡食物。比如薯片低零、餅干婆翔、巧克力等等。單詞就長這樣掏婶，雖然最后的-ies很容易讓人誤以為它會有個單數(shù)形式啃奴。
3. The car is packed. 東西都裝上車了。 （is packed, 被動語態(tài)）
The room is packed. 房間里都是人雄妥。（packed 作形容詞）
很讓人困惑有木有最蕾？ 我就知道，呵呵老厌。
4. fill up the tank 加滿油
Did you fill up the tank? 油加滿了嗎瘟则？
fill the glass 倒酒 fill up the glass 倒?jié)M酒。 感受一下枝秤。
tank 有坦克的意思醋拧，不過這里是汽車油箱gas tank的簡寫。
5. pit stop = quick stop 短暫停歇。
常與make 連用： make a pit stop
Do you think we can make a pit stop? 我們要不要歇一會趁仙？
pit stop 連讀很容易誤聽為pits top
6. We've got all our bases covered. 萬事俱備
have got all our bases covered應該是英語習語(idioms) cover all the bases 的被動用法，再加上完成時態(tài)垦页。cover all the bases 指做好萬全準備雀费，不管發(fā)生什么 狀況都能應付。
【例句】We've got all the bases covered in case hurricane hits. 我們已經(jīng)做好準備痊焊，應對臺風到來盏袄。
【例句】OK, I have my keys, wallet, and passport. Looks i have all my bases covered. 鑰匙帶了，錢包帶了薄啥，護照也帶了辕羽，應該是都帶全了。
7. Let's get going. 走吧垄惧；開始吧刁愿。 很實用的短語，而且上面的go可以換成其它動詞使用到逊。比如
【例句】I've got the chicken. let's get cooking. 雞到手了铣口，開始煮吧。 （原諒我放蕩不羈的翻譯觉壶。）
【例句】This house is really scary. Let's get out of here. 這房子太恐怖了脑题，我們走吧。
【例句】I have another meeting in 5 minutes. So let's get down to business. 我5分鐘后還有個會铜靶，直接說正事吧叔遂。
8. It's all set. 準備好了！ 比it's all ready 更地道争剿。
9. go to the bathroom = go to the loo 【英式口語】 = go to the toilet = go to the restroom? 上廁所
go 可以換成use, 比如
I need to use the bathroom.
Can I use the bathroom?
etc...
