文章開始強(qiáng)調(diào)摧毀黨的力量在于群眾店乐，如果群眾能意識(shí)到自身的力量But the proles, if only they could somehow become conscious of their own strength. would have no need to conspire. They needed only to rise up and shake themselves like a horse shaking off flies.是能夠粉碎所謂的Party
然而they could only focus it on petty specific grievances

接下來Winston抄了孩子們的歷史課本里的一段話，主要是講倫敦以前的社會(huì)瓤的，變相強(qiáng)調(diào)了現(xiàn)在的社會(huì)的美好。
但Winston直接點(diǎn)出了疑問，有哪些是真實(shí)的志秃，哪些是謊言呢？他任務(wù)Party所描繪的世界：
The ideal set up by the Party was something huge, terrible, and glittering—a world of steel and concrete, of monstrous machines and terrifying weapons—a nation of warriors and fanatics, marching forward in perfect unity, all thinking the same thoughts and shouting the same slogans, perpetually working, fighting, triumphing, persecuting—three hundred million people all with the same face.一系列的排比鏗鏘有力嚼酝，擲地有聲的指出了所謂理想世界的不可能浮还，通過現(xiàn)在社會(huì) 和人就能看的出來。
擅自改動(dòng)數(shù)字并不能有實(shí)質(zhì)的改變闽巩，只能是自欺欺人钧舌。The past was erased, the erasure was forgotten, the lie became truth.

這一章充滿了審視Party，洋溢著革命的火苗涎跨，最后提到了O’Brien
