I shared this book with my baby today. It gave me some new ideas if I practiced reading with group of babies.
First, I can draw three animals, a donkey, a sheep, and a duck first.
And I will give the three animals to each baby. And we can learn the voice of the animals together. Now the story begins:
“Picnic time!” said Dad.
Biff sat on a log. Some sheep came, one, two, three, four, later a large group of sheep came. “Run!” said Kipper.
Biff sat on a bridge. Some ducks came, one, two...the same thing happened, a large group of ducks came. “Run!” said Chip.
They sat on a wall. Some donkeys came. And.... “Run!” said Biff.
They sat on a rock. Oh, no, the rain came.
It is a very short story, but it is interesting if each of the baby join this reading activity. Aged 1-6 children could join it.
There are four scenes, one baby is donkey. One is duck, and another one is sheep. One is having a picnic. He is eating something yummy when a large group of the three animals come. Babies will got the animal words, ‘sheep, donkey, and duck.’ Besides, they like counting numbers ‘one, two, three....’. And the verb ‘run’.
After reading, just play a game with the children. Who will get the picnic? Please have a try. Big hand and small hand point the line, babies will be very excited if he or she gets the picnic.
It is easy preparing and easy performing. Try it with the children. Then you can tell them more interesting as follows.
