因新冠肺炎在美國日趨嚴(yán)重，上星期哈佛校長Lawrence "Larry" Bacow通知全體學(xué)生撤離校園纳鼎。在他給全體哈佛人的郵件最后有這樣一段話：
No one knows what we will face in the weeks ahead, but everyone knows enough to understand that COVID-19 will test our capacities to be kind and generous, and to see beyond ourselves and our own interests. Our task now is to bring the best of who we are and what we do to a world that is more complex and more confused than any of us would like it to be. May we all proceed with wisdom and grace.
在未來的幾個(gè)星期俺夕，沒人能預(yù)知我們將要面臨的是什么，但是我們每個(gè)人都要懂得COVID-19正在考驗(yàn)我們在危機(jī)時(shí)刻所顯示的超脫于自我的善良和慷慨贱鄙，選擇先利人還是先利己劝贸。在這個(gè)非我所愿的復(fù)雜混沌的時(shí)刻，我們的任務(wù)是展現(xiàn)我們最好的品格和行為逗宁。愿大道至簡而折沖萬里映九。
小知識(shí)：
Lawrence“ Larry” Seldon Bacow 是美國律師，經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)家瞎颗，作家件甥，也是哈佛大學(xué)第29任校長。他繼德魯·吉爾平·福斯特（Drew Gilpin Faust）之后于2018年7月1日上任至今哼拔。
折沖萬里引有，zhé chōng wàn lǐ，指在遠(yuǎn)離沙場的廟堂上以謀略和智慧克敵制勝管挟。常用以形容高明的外交才干或在外交爭端中取得勝利。
