From June 27, 2017 until December, Melody Wang joined forces with the biggest auction house in Asia - Poly and JUST SPACE for a unique exhibition at the outstanding art gallery of the Sanya EDITION Hotel.? More than 100 guests including distinguished art collectors, celebrities, artists and major art medias joined the grand opening.

For the event, Melody Wang jointly curated and exhibited the "EAST MEETS WEST" pavilion .

"East meets west is not a new concept. However this artworks display is not just a gathering of artists from different backgrounds. Instead it brings together artists that are multicultural. They are either Asian artists who live in the West or western artists who call China home." says Melody.

TIM JOEL

Born in a country an expatriated, these globetrotters have been uprooted and have undergone the influence of totally different philosophies and values, altering their work and inspirations along the way. Although very different in style, they share a common stimulus and present a very interesting mix of cultural introspective.

SUNG YITING

Chinese subjects with a western outlook, western themes with an Asian twist, these works witness changing times, globalization and lasting memories where Melody found a strong resonance of her inner self as do many multicultural Chinese.

JORGE RIVERA

During the event, Melody has also exhibited her personal collection. An original art piece of Dali. “Espana” 1976 – Limited Edition Nr. 179/250Silver Bas Relief by Salvador Dali (1904-1989)

" My interest in multicultural aesthetic experience reflects that of many global Chinese, providing a new angle and perspective in the study of cultural? globalization . In fact, at the levels of ontology and existential theory, I found eastern? Master Zhuang and western Heidegger are similar in Regards to beauty and aesthetics, showing that man has a common pursuit of aesthetics." says Melody.

Below are the introductions of the exhibiting artists.

TIM JOELArt and creating, to me, is much like breathing.? It is something I literally cannot live without. I choose to see beauty in everything and everyone. Art is my religion. I live in admiration of life and nature.

Tim Joel was born in 1971 in Isleworth, London. His parents, Paul and Judy Joel, are both artists and gallery owners in Cornwall. Growing in an artists’ family, Joel was brought up to appreciate all forms of art.

He graduated from Napier University in Edinburgh in 1999 with a BA with Honors degree in Photography and the moving image. He lived for a while in Germany and became involved with the Stuckists, exhibiting with them in London and in Germany. He then travelled widely, landing first in Thailand and then settling in Taiwan. He has held numerous exhibitions in Europe, Asia and Taiwan. He is a member of the Association of British Naive Artists.

He published his first book, Poet Painter, in 2005, and was chosen by Discovery Channel to be the subject of a documentary about foreign people who find inspiration in Taiwan.

JORGE RIVERA“I believe there is only one truth, misinterpreted in many ways.Every country and people is for me a new source of inspiration and discovery.”

Born in Spain in 1973, Jorge Rivera grew up and graduated in Vigo (Spain) and then moved to London (England) to gain a M.A. in fine arts and a PhD in sculpture at the famous British Royal College of Art. He then spent the rest of his life traveling around the world, often as an artist in residence. His wandering took him to London, Berlin, Vienna, Los Angeles, Madrid, Nagoya, Vietnam and Taiwan among others. He does sketches, paintings, multimedia, sculpture as well as installations.Along the years Jorge has collected prizes and since 2001 he has done over 25 solo and groups exhibitions worldwide. His works are not only in numerous private collections; they are also in several museums, colleges and foundations:

Sotheby’s, London.
Royal College of Art, Archive.
Takumy Museum, Nagoya, Japan.
Stanford University, San Francisco.
Modern Multiples, LA California.
CGAG, Santiago de Compostela.
Fundacion Barrie de La Maza, A Coru?a.

SUNG YITING“My artworks are subject to my mood. The darker the mood the darker the art. I can’t draw or paint without any strong feeling and motivation.”

Born in a conservative Taiwan family in 1982, Yiting graduated at the Changhua University of Arts.

A rebel child, she moved to Europe after her studies and acted as a performer and photography and artistic model. She worked with many renowned art directors and photographers such adding to her knowledge and understanding of arts. She regards life and people as being part of a life carnival. In her words, “l(fā)ife is a play”.

Since her parents are arts teachers, Yiting has drawn sketches since childhood. In 2012 she started to produce mature artworks using a number of media in drawings, paintings and photography. Yiting has no material limits and uses or mixes water colors, inks, paint, etc. She often uses self portraits and artistic nudes as an inspiration. She finds her stronger insight in the female body and its curvy shapes on which she often adds a wild touch. Although she always is in search of fresh ideas and new artistic paths, women for Yiting are an infinite source of creation and expression with powerful eroticism. Her current influencers are Modigliani and Picasso.

She has exhibited in France, Belgium and Taiwan, and has been well received by both art critics and collectors, and showing a very promising future for such a young artist.
