最近沉迷于Joan Baez的歌聲中無法自拔供填。在網(wǎng)易音樂建了個專門的歌單罢猪，把所有能找到的她的歌都囊括其中膳帕。耳朵一旦有了閑暇薇缅，我就戴上耳機泳桦，將自己沉浸在Joan Baez的歌聲里娩缰。在多年前看過的《阿甘正傳》中拼坎，曾與Joan Baez的歌聲有一面之緣，可惜當時沒有深入了解而錯過了债蓝。如今再次聽到她的歌盛龄，有一種相逢恨晚的感覺。
Joan Baez翻唱過不少各國的民歌啊鸭，其中有幾首蘇格蘭民歌尤其讓我感興趣：《House Carpenter》莉掂、《Henry Martin》千扔、《Mary Hamilton》。之所以對這幾首歌感興趣厘唾，不僅因為旋律悠揚龙誊，而且每一首都敘述了一個故事趟大，不是那種國王或者英雄的史詩，而是某個被遺忘在歷史角落里的小人物的故事罕伯。

《House Carpenter》講述了少婦遇到了過去的情人椅棺，情人用財富誘惑她拋棄丈夫（即House Carpenter）和孩子，坐船私奔到了海上床估，最后雙雙淹死在海里的故事丐巫∩酌溃看了下維基百科，這首歌又名《The Daemon Lover》（惡魔愛人）缎脾，誘惑少婦的情人其實是惡魔遗菠，這與結尾處的歌詞Those are the hills of hell, my love.Where you and I must go相呼應屉栓。
又找來其他幾個版本的《House Carpenter》來聽友多，故事主線大致相同堤框，歌詞略有出入蜈抓，演唱者的演繹卻各具特色，各有風味委可。
這首民謠被Francis James Child收錄在The English and Scottish Popular Ballads （Child Ballad）中着倾。這個選集收錄了305首英格蘭和蘇格蘭民謠，包括下面的《Henry Martin》和《Mary Hamilton》蒿囤。

《Henry Martin》講的是三兄弟中的老幺Henry Martin為了生活而當海盜，劫掠并擊沉了一艘駛往英格蘭的商船的故事修赞。據(jù)維基百科，這首歌的歌名和主角曾是Andrew Barton勾邦，后來才改成了Henry Martin检痰。Andrew Barton曾在蘇格蘭國王詹姆斯四世的授權下，對葡萄牙商船進行武裝劫掠公壤。但因做得太過火被指控有罪椎椰，在經(jīng)歷了最后一次海戰(zhàn)之后慨飘，被英格蘭人殺死。在最初的版本的歌詞中休弃，敘述了Andrew Barton的生平圈膏，但后來逐漸變短，才有了現(xiàn)在的版本丈甸。

有人考證過Mary Hamilton的真實身份。根據(jù)歌詞結尾處出現(xiàn)的四個Mary燎斩，Mary Hamilton可能是蘇格蘭女王瑪麗一世的侍女栅表，她有四個名叫Mary的侍女师枣。但瑪麗一世的生平與歌詞并不相符，而且在歌詞中出現(xiàn)的是蘇格蘭國王洗贰，不是女王敛滋。與歌詞最相符的人物在俄國兴革，名叫Maria?Danilova?Gamentova。她是Tsarina Catherine庶艾，即后來葉卡捷琳娜一世的侍女擎勘，也是彼得一世的情婦货抄。在葉卡捷琳娜還是彼得一世的妻子時候朱转，Maria?Danilova?Gamentova曾溺斃了自己的孩子积暖，后因墮胎夺刑、殺嬰分别、偷竊和誹謗被判死刑，并被斬首沼填。Maria?Danilova?Gamentova是蘇格蘭裔括授，家族姓氏為Hamilton荚虚。所以《Mary Hamilton》可能是從多個歷史人物中吸取靈感，經(jīng)過加工而創(chuàng)作出來的版述。
又看了看Maria?Danilova?Gamentova的介紹渴析，除了彼得大帝之外，她還另有一個情夫Ivan Mikhailovich Orlov俭茧。為了留住情夫，她不惜從葉卡捷琳娜處偷東西送給Orlov民傻。后因其他事情漓踢，Orlov供出了與Maria的關系漏隐，并指控她墮胎。搜查Maria的房間時挺据，發(fā)現(xiàn)了葉卡捷琳娜失竊的物品。Maria承認了盜竊和殺嬰的事情扁耐，但拒絕提供對Orlov不利的證詞婉称。Maria被判死刑后，葉卡捷琳娜向彼得求情但沒有回應王暗。Maria上刑場時穿的正是白色的衣服俗壹。她被人用劍斬首，而不是用斧子头滔，因為彼得向她許諾劊子手不會觸碰她的身體之众。斬首后，彼得大帝拿起頭缀蹄，作了一番關于解剖的演講膘婶，親了一下悬襟，然后扔掉了。之后Maria的頭被保存在俄羅斯科學院中脊岳，一直到葉卡捷琳娜二世的時代割捅。好一個癡情又薄命的紅顏啊。
彼得大帝對解剖學和觀看死刑的興趣是他不為人知的一面嘹黔，他的大兒子被處死時儡蔓，監(jiān)斬的也正是他自己。
