2. 體會(huì)這個(gè)詞 （進(jìn)階篇）
“appeal”可以作動(dòng)詞也可以作名詞使用蒙挑，作為名詞它可以表示“上訴”，“懇求”真朗，不過我們今天要學(xué)習(xí)的是它作為名詞砰识，表示“吸引力” “感染力”的用法。當(dāng)我們想表達(dá)“吸引力” “魅力”時(shí)，除了想到用“attraction” “more popular” 造句外，還可以想到用 appeal咙边。
我們想說經(jīng)典的文學(xué)作品有持久的魅力，就可以說：
The classics have timeless appeal.
我們現(xiàn)在常說的“為…打call”次员，其實(shí)也是在說為某人或某物做點(diǎn)事情，讓他/它更受歡迎王带。比如我們?cè)谏缛褐芯鸵恢毕虼蠹彝扑]? William Zinsser 的寫作圣經(jīng) On Writing Well：
Phenomenal English has been broadening the appeal of On Writing Well.
“appeal”前面也可以加形容詞淑蔚，表明在某一方面的吸引力，比如 commercial/visual/aesthetic appeal愕撰，分別指“商業(yè)上的/視覺上的/藝術(shù)上的吸引力刹衫。
比如有些畫作，看多了就不覺得它好看了搞挣，就可以說：
Some paintings lose their aesthetic appeal over time.
這一期的《經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)人》介紹了澳大利亞的治國(guó)之道带迟，在寫道為什么有些人選擇移民澳洲時(shí)，有這樣一句：
The main appeal of Australia to their families, they say is that it is not racked by civil war.
澳大利亞對(duì)他們吸引力主要在于囱桨，澳大利亞沒有遭受過內(nèi)戰(zhàn)仓犬。

1）使用《牛津英語搭配詞典》查“appeal”，了解它的常用搭配舍肠。
2）翻譯下面的句子：

The Economist has appeal to students who want to improve their English writing skills.
（參考翻譯：The Economist has wide appeal for students who want to improve their English writing skills.）
造句：Beijing is such a famous city with appeal for tourists all around the world.
