My eldest daughter, joycelyn, after a year and a half of preparation, is finally facing the most exciting or the cruelest result this week.
Someone came up with MIT admission last week. Some Chicago, some even Princeton, some Ucla, and our joys' peers had all the good news except her. The bad news sprang up one after another and the chance seemed geting slimmer. The last day was 30th. I said: "cheer up, failure is also a success, this is a journey to fulfill a bigger dream ."
In my heart, a good university is in the environment of self-pursuit and growth. In the world throughout aspirations and cruel reality amid loss and failure, one can learn how to calm down and continue to move on . Throw your chest out and hold your head high.? That's the best university environment.
This moment finally came, UC Berkeley, University of California, Berkeley finally admitted joy, tears of joy fell from the face of joy ....
Along the way, she and I also visited more than 20 universities on both sides of the United States, the East and West coast. I asked her: "What dream do you have?" "My dream is to study one of the best universities in California!" "Let's work on it!"
I took her to participate in the two-week Intensive Course, improving SAT from 1390 to 1530, with 1600 being the perfect score.
Admission to top universities in the United States is not only just about the SAT score test, but also about the holistic development. She chose to run outdoors. In this way I also began to follow her. She became the school's running team member and represented the school in the New York State competition. At the same time, I also became a long-distance runner from running merely 3 kilometers at the beginning, and now participated in 42 kilometers of full marathons.
In this journey of finding university, there are hardships, frustrations, and suspicions, but there are great rewards. The most important thing is to be able to find the true self and break free of the fears.
During this time, I also completed the University of Chicago mba, and Tsinghua's public speaking classes.
