This was an English tradition which started centuries ago. OnChristmas eve, plum porridge was served to the people. As years passed, variousother things like dry fruits, honey and spices were used. Soon this porridgegot replaced with the Christmas cake. Christmas cakes are made using eggs,butter, confections, fruits, etc. Today a Christmas cake is an integral part ofa Christmas menu.

This tradition comes from the story of the three wise men who gotgifts for baby Jesus on Christmas. Every Christmas, gifts are exchanged amongloved ones, especially children. The story of Santa Claus also comes from thistradition.

In the earlier times, when Christians werepersecuted, they were not allowed to practice prayers. Hence, a single candleused to be placed outside the house as a sign that Christian prayers were beingconducted inside.

This is yet another age-old tradition of Christmas. A crib refers tothe Nativity Scene that is prepared using small statues. The first crib everwas made outside a church of St. Francis of Assisi for children to show themhow the Nativity scene was like. Since then, this tradition became verypopular.

Gingerbread man圣誕在西方家喻戶曉的童話形象。 出自The Gingerbr
ead man這個(gè)傳統(tǒng)故事彬向，講一只剛烤好的姜餅小人為了避免被吃的命運(yùn)豫喧，從烤箱里逃出來，一路狂奔幢泼，躲過了老爺爺老奶奶紧显，豬，牛缕棵，馬孵班，最后在過河時(shí)，被狡猾的狐貍欺騙還是被吃掉了招驴。整個(gè)故事里姜餅小人一直在唱一句話“Run, run, as fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the
gingerbread man篙程。” 所以“姜餅人”被用來形容那種單純又勇往直前的人别厘∈觯基本上，有天歌詞里說的"bigger
than Gingerbread man's vitality"等同于我們說的“比打不死的小強(qiáng)還具有生命力”的意思触趴。[1]
在英國還流傳著一個(gè)傳說氮发，未婚女子吃下姜餅，即能遇見理想的伴侶冗懦。每到盛大的節(jié)日爽冕，大人們就會(huì)將各種形狀如心形、人形的姜餅送給孩子們披蕉，或偷偷地放入孩子們期待的襪子內(nèi)颈畸。漸漸的，姜餅屋變成了在世界各地風(fēng)靡的新年禮物没讲。讓期待的心承載著節(jié)日里的別樣牽掛眯娱。[1]
材料：牛油100克、糖100克爬凑、黑糖膠(也可用蜜糖代替)1/4量杯徙缴、蛋黃1只、面粉250克贰谣、發(fā)粉1/2茶匙娜搂、干姜粉1茶匙迁霎、肉桂粉1/2茶匙吱抚。
糖飾：白糖1/2量杯、蛋清1只考廉、塔塔粉1/4茶匙(用檸檬汁或白醋代替也可)
