Bad habits always die hard.
There's no short cut. We don't want to get your hopes up.
We're here to offer some support and some helpful tips.
Here're five ways to stop reinforcing bad habits and make good ones instead.
Identify what triggers them.
When you can identify your triggers, then you can push them back.
Whether means cutting down on junk food or starting your homework earlier, there're ways to spot what makes you jump back to dreaded rabbit hole.
Having chips and ice cream in your pantry fridge can make it tempting to resort back to your own ways. Instead, we recommend getting rid of them and replacing them with healthier snacks.
If playing viedo games or browsing the internet makes you start your homework late,? we recommend putting the games away and temporarily deactiviting your social media pages. That way, there're less distraction to work with.
Accept that there are obstacles ahead. It's not going to be rainbows and butterflies. That's for sure.
People don't take the obstacles they are going to faces seriously enough when they set up to change behaviors.
This makes it very easy to become discouraged along the way.
To avoid being disillusioned, think of all the things that can go wrong and prepare ways to overcome them. Always have a plan B!
Set realistic goals and accept that failure is part of the process.
Creat a reward system.
Who said endding bad habits has to be all work. Since you working hard, you might as well play hard too.
Everytime you pull back from your bad habits, reward yourself, whether be going to the spa, baking cookie after along week of eating healthy. Give yourself a well earn break. On the flip side, however, if you caving to your bad habits, it's important to set some rules to help you get back in line.
Punishment doesn't have to be brutal, of course.
But you catch yourself giving into that bag of chips only on Day 2, drop and give yourself twenty.
To make things more fun. This will also hold you more accountable for your actions.
Make changes slowly.
Patient! Young grasshopper. Gradual progress will pay off better long term than hasty results.
Instead of cutting all your bad habits immediately, make changes slowly to help your body adapt better both physically and mentally.
Rome definitely wasn't built in a day. Motivation is key.
Don't let your failure be a reason to give up.
Expect to fail along the way. But the most important thing is to keep going.
Often work too hard on ourselves when we slip. Instead of beating ourselves up over the mistakes we make, we can see that as learning opportunities.
Remember, you're stronger than your temptations.
