The Chrity Business-the new philanthropist

They call it ‘caritas’, and they say it means love and care. They say they know how important management is, and some of them even say they have read Charles Hardy’s Understanding Voluntary Organizations, but they say you should not be paid £70,000 a year to run a charity. They say you should not be that when most of your helpers work for nothing but love, salaries like that are not appropriate; they say the new hard-headed, professional philosophy in charity is going too far, and has begun to undermine the ethos of the sector.
The first thing to note about British charities is that “charity” defines how their income spent, much more than it defines how it is raised.

...this has nothing to do with the abrasively ambitious female manager who acts as if she believes the only way to breach the ramparts of sexual discrimination that surround senior management jobs is to be more macho than the male. in this case, management responsibility changes women more than it changes management, with the consequence that we end up, mot with more feminine managers, but more masuline women.
這個觀點我第一次見到!好有意思!不過還有一部分原因是這么久以來的商業(yè)和經(jīng)濟學的理論都非常masculinity導(dǎo)致大家覺得管理層的符號就是男性咯任连。有了這樣的標簽埋在腦子里蒙具,做管理很難不往男性化發(fā)展呢。不過我覺得這個feminine?manager的概念真的蠻值得思考的娃兽!
