1. 認識這個詞（基礎篇）
詞：remain
英英釋義：to continue to be in the same state or condition
例句：Mooncakes remain an essential part of Mid-autumn Festival.
2. 體會這個詞 （進階篇）
“remain”幾乎在每期《經(jīng)濟學人》中都會出現(xiàn)。它可以作不及物動詞，也可以作系動詞援雇，今天的“每日一詞”側(cè)重后者祠锣。
顧名思義茉帅，系動詞連接主語和賓語杖剪，因此“remain”和“be”動詞幾乎可以同義替換（上面例句中的 remain 就可以換成 is）。不同點在于（正如英英釋義中說的）苗踪，“remain”強調(diào)狀態(tài)的穩(wěn)定性或延續(xù)性触机。
“remain” 后面可以接形容詞帚戳，常接 “un”開頭的形容詞玷或，比如 unclear, unchanged, unanswered, unproven。來看兩個例子：
“remain“后也可以接名詞片任，比如常見的有 a secret, an enigma：
The fate of the injured remains unclear.
“remain”后面接“unclear”偏友，意思是傷者的命運未卜。很多關于事故对供、災難的新聞報道中會出現(xiàn)這句話位他。
馬云退休后，《經(jīng)濟學人》進行了報道产场，開頭段講個了笑話：BAT（百度鹅髓、阿里巴巴、騰訊）中京景，如果其中一位核心領導不幸被淹死的話窿冯，他們公司的股票會受到什么樣的影響？
作者是這樣寫的：
If it were Mr Ma of Alibaba, its shares would fall. If it were Mr Ma of Tencent, they would remain unchanged. And if it were Mr Li of Baidu, they would rise.
“remain“后也可以接名詞确徙，比如常見的有 a secret, an enigma：
Whether the actor killed himself or was murdered remains a secret.
“remain”后面接“a secret”醒串，強調(diào)的是這個演員的死因一直是個謎。這里的名詞 “a secret” 也可以換成 un開頭的形容詞鄙皇，因此這句話還可以這么寫：
It remains unknown whether the actor killed himself or was murdered.
