詞：boast
英英釋義：?(of a person, place, or thing) possess (a feature that is a source of pride)
例句：Phenomenal English boasts arguably the most driven English learners.
2. 體會這個詞 （進階篇）
從“boast”的英英釋義可以看出，它的意思就是“擁有紧帕、有”嘶摊，只不過這里面有一種自豪的意味叉谜，可以翻譯為“以......引以為豪”屈扎。它是及物動詞滔蝉，后面可以直接接賓語堰氓。（“boast”還有一個意思是“自夸”，做這個意思阵翎，后面一般要加 about/of。）
這個詞給我們的啟發(fā)是之剧，學英語時有時要避免簡單地逐字翻譯郭卫，不要過于依賴英漢、漢英詞典背稼。比如在漢英字典中查“有”是不太可能查到 boast贰军，但 boast 在一些語境中可以表示“有”，而且比常見的 have更準確蟹肘。
比如谓形，我們經常說北大和清華有全國最聰明的學生和最強的師資灶伊，就可以寫：
Peking and Tsinghua Universities?boast?the most talented students and best faculty members in China. （注意：如果兩個大學都是“XX University”，放在一起的話寒跳，可以把 University 變成復數(shù)聘萨。又如：Stanford and Harvard Universities。）
深圳匯集了大量高速增長的科技公司童太，比如大疆無人機米辐、華大基因等，就可以說：
Shenzhen?boasts?a large number of fast growing technology companies.
再比如书释，幾天前 2018 年諾貝爾生理學或醫(yī)學獎授予了美國的艾利森和日本的本庶佑翘贮。想表達日本的諾貝爾獲獎者人數(shù)居亞洲第一，就可以說：
Japan?boasts?the most Nobel laureates in Asia.
再來看《經濟學人》中兩個使用了 boast 的句子爆惧。在介紹 Instagram 的用戶數(shù)時狸页，它寫道：
The photo-sharing app has grown snappily and now?boasts1bn monthly users.
在寫舊金山的垃圾回收率時，是這樣寫的：
San Francisco?boasts?a recycling rate of 80%, one of the highest of any rich-world city. （這里的“boast”可以翻譯為“高達”扯再。）
