中預的小孩子Joe自己完成的作品 我是他的第一批讀者 感嘆下這么厲害的孩子真的不是我教出來的。而是天生的好記性和驚人的閱讀量飘痛!他的英語課外書看的非常多。
What is school about?
School’s about the worst-thing
that happened to every human being.
Early in the morning they were dragged to school,
Where they were flung out like a useless tool.
In they went with a ton-weighing bag,
Yawning so much they could’ve got jet lag.
Then the teacher came and said,
“read the books, you lazy heads!”
(Mind you, his English is not very well,
and also he has a lack of brain cells.)
And they read and read until the bell starts ringing,
But that only means the first lesson is starting
Comparatively Science is their favourite class,
in which chemicals are frothing in a test tube made of glass.
Next comes English, which is also very good,
though in the end they have to fill their notebooks.
Music and art are not so bad,
Awful movies are still better than classes (“Be glad!”)
But then there are geography, Chinese and Maths
They are so boring you can doze and dream of baths.
(teachers’ voice is so monotonous that it sounds like water running,
quite like the sound when you open a tap in an early Sunday morning. )
And if they catch you dozing or not paying full attention,
A curse will fall upon you, with probably a detention.
Finally four classes are over, and it’s time to eat
and students have to stuff in what makes pig’s heart skip a beat.
(Oddly teachers have no complaints at this horrible meal,
But I assume that they just lack a certain taste or feel.)
After that there is so-called “l(fā)unch break”
but they have to do their homework, for life’s sake!
How they long to go to their beloved playground,
or go playing in the sandbox and raise a little mound.
But homework blocked their way, teachers stood and glared,
And they have to work hard to avoid their furious stare.
When at last the lunch break is over, the students put away their books,
but there’re another THREE classes (How difficult they look!)
At 3:55 the school is over, the students all hurry back
Guess what’s in their bags---all the homework so densely packed!
School is so bad it breaks the soul,
and churns it round like an egg in a bowl
So if you don’t want your child to be a fool
Please never ever send them away to school!
