I like zoos in general, but I don't go very much. Every time I see an eagle trapped inside a cage, not being able to fly high, or a gorilla howling at me from the other side of the glass and hitting it with fists, I could not help but think why a zoo has to exist and why it's them who are trapped inside.
This came from a lunch talk with coworkers. One of them threw out a point: since chimpanzees, gorillas and humans have so many similarities, why isn't there a place to put them side by side on display? Sure, it must be because we humans are advanced animals and only the lower-level animals are worth living in cages, for our entertainment purposes.
One day, and even though that day may be far far away, when we face some even more advanced species, would humans be treated fairly or thrown into some sort of cages, fed, brain washed and face lives with no freedom?
