Good morning, everyone! I'm very glad to voice my idea of the text 'The Future of Cyberspace'. I'll talk about it in three aspects.
First ,the teaching material.
This text is the first part of Unit 4 Modul 2 by Beijing Teachers' University Publishing House. The headline is 'Tomorrow's World' and the title of the article is 'The Future of Cyberspace'. So, in my opinion, the objectives of the text are the followings:
To use the title of the text to predict the content.
To learn vocabulary of cyberspace.
To know the advantages and disadvantages of cyberspace.
Second, teaching methods.
in this period, I'll take some teaching methods to help the students understand and master the text, and further deepen and widen their thoughts. They are:
1.Elicitation method 2.Discussion
3.Reading 4.Asking and answering
5.Conclusion
The third, teaching steps.
Step 1. Leading-in
As a class, students discuss life in the next tewenty years and the effects of technology. Elicit topics and write them on the board to start students thinking.
Travel education communication food personal relationships work hobbies
Sport money government health homes agriculture
Step 2 Dicussion
Ask students how useful it is to read the title of a text or a newspaper headline. In pairs, students discuss which topics will be in this text.
Step 3 Read to learn
Students read the text quickly and check their guesses.
Students read the text again, finding the key words and working out the definitions.
Checking answers by having students read out the sentences in the text cintaining the key word and then substitute the definition in the sentence.
Ask students to fill in the blanks to compare two opposite attitudes about the future.
There are two different opinions about cyberspace in the text
