Money and happiness have always been what some people long for. It is true that most of them try to acquire money by means of honest labor. Some people hold that money is one of the material conditions of happiness. With money, one can afford opportunities for dusty snobbism. So, in their minds, money can give delight to them. Money, as they assume, is the source of happiness.
However,? there are still some people who assume that money is the root of all evil which may spoil personal rules of life. Money drives people to sacrifice health and private affections. For them, the theory of life is to make money and have success in work. In one sense, the pursuit of money renders many people to lose their own lives.
I admit that money is essential to life, but it can’t buy happiness. Happiness is not something that can be measured by money or external conditions. It is a state of mind. Some people can get happiness by devoting their weekends to voluntary and unremunerated toil in their gardens. Some people can find pleasure in the alternation of day and night, spring and autumn. A humble conclusion may be drawn that money can never buy happiness.
