With the development of social software, people spend more and more time on sharing their daily moments, express their opinions or browse through articles published via Wechat, LinkedIn or Facebook. Does the fragmented reading really benefit people?
Generally, those articles shared on the social networks help people kill the time efficiently. In the past, people got bored easily when they were waiting for the train, queuing at the bank or waiting at the restaurant, but now you do not feel like that because those free subscribed accounts will push articles to you daily from your smart phone Apps, easily filling in your fragmented time.?
Generally, it is more beneficial for people to spend time reading something rather than staying idle. Some high-quality articles really provide original and specular viewpoints.?
However, I have to admit that most of those free articles have not in-depth viewpoints. For a person who read wide variety of books, he can easily identify some viewpoints, which are actually copied from books, or magazines but the authors seem not thinking necessary to refer to the sources seriously.?Through binding their own opinions to the public hot events, utilizing inflammatory topics and editing skills, they created articles with the speed of lighting, which are supposed to attract the readers, while the reading amount becomes their real and final “product” to attract advertisers and revenue.
We might need a more wise way to embed social media reading into our reading plan. Those social media articles are more like a portal to take us into different knowledge fields, but do not just stay at the gate. Try to search for books with in-depth viewpoints in that field to build up your own knowledge framework and form a habit of critical thinking; instead of be misled by the biased opinion of those articles.?
