Redundant Twins 冗詞對
中譯英常常會出現(xiàn)“冗詞對”纬凤，部分原因在于中文講求對仗平衡，常用四字成語撩嚼，但在譯為英文時就要注意是否出現(xiàn)了語義的重復停士。
處理的方法就是刪除其中一個詞，刪除的原則就是： Does the second word add anything significant to the first ?
冗詞對分為三種：
1. 兩個詞的詞義相同完丽。 如恋技，affulence and prosperity , contacts and dealings .
2. 一個詞包含另一詞的含義。 如逻族， best and thorough , evaluate and comprehend?
3. 其中一詞語義寬泛模糊蜻底。
作者將冗詞對按名詞、動詞聘鳞、形容詞薄辅、副詞進行了分類。 如errors and mistakes , endorse and support , strong and solid , correctly and properly .?
但是對“冗詞對”的處理需要具備一定的判斷力,并不是一概而論抠璃。有時候在政府官方文件中還需要保留“冗詞對” 站楚。 Meaning must have priority over elegance .?
