Cargo cult

A cargo cult is a millenarian movement first described in Melanesia which encompasses a range of practices and occurs in the wake of contact with more technologically advanced societies. The name derives from the belief which began among Melanesians in the late 19th and early 20th century that various ritualistic acts such as the building of an airplane runway will result in the appearance of material wealth, particularly highly desirable Western goods (i.e., "cargo"), via Western airplanes.

Gravity, or gravitation, is a natural phenomenon by which all things with mass are brought toward (or gravitate toward) one another, including planets, stars and galaxies. Since energy and mass are equivalent, all forms of energy, including light, also cause gravitation and are under the influence of it. On Earth, gravity gives weight to physical objects and causes the ocean tides. The gravitational attraction of the original gaseous matter present in the Universe caused it to begin coalescing, forming stars – and the stars to group together into galaxies – so gravity is responsible for many of the large scale structures in the Universe. Gravity has an infinite range, although its effects become increasingly weaker on farther objects.

Why self discipline is so hard to get?

It's basically because of lack of motivation. People feel that whipping themselves into doing something is the proper way of disciplining oneself, when that approach is counterproductive.

Consider that one has three selves: a high self, a conscious self, and a basic self.

The conscious self that identifies the basic self as undisciplined might incorrectly use negative motivation to get the basic self to change, for example by telling the basic self to STOP smoking cigarettes or STOP eating so much. This approach might work temporarily, but often the basic self eventually reverts back to his or her previous behavior and feels shame in doing so. And so the conscious self incorrectly clamps down again and the cycle repeats itself.

If, on the hand, the higher self presents a positive picture of what change might look like (for example, a strong visualization of the entire self being a vibrant, healthy and beautiful person), that picture can motivate the basic self to move towards changing the unwanted behavior.

So the task of creating self-discipline begins with working with the imagination to create a positive, motivating picture. This can be grounded with strategies like posting a picture or photograph of healthy/thin/beautiful person on a mirror or refrigerator door and/or carrying such a picture or photograph in a wallet or purse and taking it out to admire frequently during the day.

In that way, the high self is working with the individual's unconscious mind and collaborating with the conscious mind to motivate the basic self.

After some practice, self-discipline emerges.

Huang graduated from Oregon State University before moving to California where he graduated from Stanford University. As of 2008, Forbes listed him as the 61st highest paid CEO in a list of U.S. CEOs.

After college he was Director of Coreware at LSI Logic and a microprocessor designer at Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD). On his 30th birthday in 1993, Huang co-founded Nvidia and is currently the CEO and President. He owns a portion of Nvidia's stock worth about USD $1.3 billion as of 2016. He earned $24.6 million as CEO in 2007, ranking him as the 61st highest paid U.S. CEO by Forbes.
