和Compensate略有區(qū)別缩筛，Indemnify指為了保護他人的損失和傷害而進行的賠償，它和damage這個詞有關锌仅。所以保險業(yè)也常用這個詞來說明賠付過程章钾，例如indemnify the insured goods.? 賠償金也可以用indemnity來表達墙贱。著名的老電影《雙重賠償》的英文片名就是Double Indemnity，它是一部情節(jié)緊湊贱傀，意味深長的黑色喜劇片惨撇。
它還有保護某人或者機構免于法律責任的意思，例如：
