> 而后他們又練習(xí)另一種叫作防守的動作贞岭，他們安排三個(gè)家伙擋在我前面绎速，我應(yīng)該突破他們皮获，抓住帶球的那個(gè)家伙。前半部分比較容易纹冤，因?yàn)槲铱梢暂p輕松松把那三個(gè)家伙推倒洒宝，可是他們不喜歡我抓住帶球那家伙的動作，最后他們要我去撞一棵大橡樹萌京，撞上十幾二十次——去體會一下那種感覺雁歌，我猜≈校可是過了一陣子靠瞎，他們猜想我從那棵橡樹身上已經(jīng)學(xué)到一些東西之后，又叫我跟那三個(gè)家伙一起和拿球的家伙練習(xí)求妹。他們發(fā)起火來乏盐，因?yàn)槲彝崎_三名阻擋者之后撲向拿球那家伙的動作不夠兇殘。那天下午我挨了許多罵扒最，可是練習(xí)完畢之后我去見教練丑勤，告訴他我不愿撲倒帶球那家伙华嘹，因?yàn)槲遗聲剿扇ぁ＝叹氄f，不會傷到他耙厚，因?yàn)樗┝饲蛞虑看欤斜Ｗo(hù)。其實(shí)薛躬，我并不是那么怕傷到他俯渤，我怕的是他會生我的氣，要是我不好好對待每個(gè)人型宝，他們就又會來追打我八匠。長話短說絮爷，我花了好一陣子工夫才弄清楚訣竅。
> Then they tried this other thing they call the defense, where they put three guys in front of me and I am sposed to get thru them and grap the guy with the football. The first part was easier, cause I could just shove the other guys' heads down, but they were unhappy with the way I grapped the guy with the ball, and finally they made me go and tackle a big oak tree about fifteen or twenty times— to get the feel of it, I spose. But after a while, when they figguried I had learnt somethin from the oak tree, they put me back with the three guys and the ball carrier and then got mad I didn't jump on him real vicious-like after I moved the others out of the way. I took a lot of abuse that afternoon, but when we quit practicing I went in to see Coach Fellers and told him I didn't want to jump on the ball guy cause I was afraid of hurtin him. Coach, he say that it wouldn't hurt him, cause he was in his football suit and was protected. The truth is, I wasn't so much afraid of hurtin him as I was that he'd get mad at me and they'd start chasin me again if I wadn't real nice to everbody. To make a long story short, it took me a while to get the hang of it all.
