用在附加狀語里或動詞 be 之后:
- Above the town, the fire was still blazing.
- 市鎮(zhèn)上方的大火仍在熊熊燃燒著佳簸。
用在名詞之后:
- Sarah was put in the room above me.
- 莎拉被安置住在我樓上的房間里乙墙。
- ... the hills above the town.
- ······市鎮(zhèn)上方的山崗。
也可用作副詞:
- The music seemed to be coming from the floor above.
- 音樂聲似乎來自樓上。

Be above a particular amount or level 某事物超過某一個量或高于某一水平伶丐。
用在附加狀語里或動詞 be 之后:
- The temperature has not risen much above zero for the past week.
- 在過去一周里悼做,氣溫僅上升到零度以上一點兒。
- Otto's voice was low, just above a whisper.
- 奧托嗓音低沉哗魂,僅比耳語略高一些肛走。

Be above someone else 某人的社會地位高于另一個人或其權力凌駕另一個人。
用在名詞之后:
- Well, my mum's a nurse and she has to bow to the matron above her.
- 我母親是護士录别,凡事得聽護士長的指示朽色。
- It did not even work all that well for the gentry above them.
- 對于他們之上的紳士們,這可不那么管用组题。
用在動詞 be 或 marry 之后:
- Guy was above her.
- 蓋伊地位比她高葫男。
- She married above herself.
- 她嫁給了一個比她自己更有身份的人。

Be above a particular activity 認為自己品行好或地位重要而不屑去做某事崔列。
用在系動詞之后:
- They were supposed to be above such crude methods of communication.

- ... even for the minority who consider themselves above such mercenary transactions.

Be above criticism or suspicion 某人因品行良好或社會地位高而不可能遭批評或惹人懷疑赵讯。
用在動詞 be 之后:
- ... those whose loyalty and morals were above reproach.
- ······ 那些忠誠和品德無可指責的人盈咳。
- Martyn was merely an erudite eccentric and entirely above suspicion.
- 馬丁只是個博學但古怪的人,根本無可懷疑边翼。
