A new coffee chain is making waves
這是文章的標題，簡潔有力晦墙。chain和waves在這里都有雙關之意悦昵，根據(jù)牛津解釋，chain: ?a group of hotels, restaurants, or shops owned by the same company晌畅。 所以a coffee chain是a group of coffee shops但指，而make waves在牛津的解釋：create a significant impression。同時chain也是鎖鏈抗楔，wave有波浪之意棋凳，這二者之間也可以產(chǎn)生生動形象的聯(lián)系。
This nascent coffee brand has gone completely viral and is said to rival Starbucks.
nascent：新興的连躏。go viral：在互聯(lián)網(wǎng)上快速傳播的剩岳。viral與rival屬于回文構詞法。
If you asked coffee drinkers in cities a few months ago where they bought coffee, you would most likely have heard "Starbucks", the uncontested go-to spot for the caffeine-dependent.?
首先入热，這是條件語氣(conditional mood)拍棕，關于條件語氣與虛擬語氣(subjunctive mood)疲迂，請見我的另一篇隨筆。uncontested go-to spot：沒有爭議的老地方莫湘。caffeine-dependent：與coffee drinker同義替換，文采盎然郑气。

這個句子的特點便是頭尾簡潔幅垮，突出了重點，however作為插入語而不是放在開頭尾组，這在The elements of style中被強調(diào)：
而Luckin作為本文的焦點忙芒，在結尾才被點出，屬于periodic sentence讳侨，制造了懸念呵萨。關于periodic sentence和loose sentence，見這里跨跨。barge into：闖入潮峦，十分形象。

Starbucks與Seattle構成頭韻勇婴，juggernaut比喻巨頭忱嘹，novice和toddler用來比喻新興的Luckin，barely替代only耕渴，punch above its weight表示與高級別選手的較量拘悦。

這個boast用法一定要記住，可以認為boast就是“有”的同義詞橱脸，而且其中暗含著驕傲的意思础米。在《經(jīng)濟學人》中也用到類似到：Their tech giants have collected the most data, attracted the best talent and boast the biggest computing clouds.

然而，就像Justin所說的捎稚，高級寫作不能僅僅依賴詞典乐横，而是要靠大量的閱讀和實戰(zhàn)練習求橄。
高階技巧
1）句式工整對稱
Three misfortunes — job loss, hospitalized mother, and divorce from his wife — have crippled him.
2）段落開頭或者結尾用短句表強調(diào)
Luckin comes prepared.
It boasts three major highlights: ...
