Today is Tuesday.
Annika began to cry when she heard that Pippi would never come up again until she retired. Pippi asked them not to be sorry nor complain and they could come down and play that they were pining away in a dungeon. Annika said she hoped that Pippi could come up and play in this world, and then she climbed right down out of the tree. Pippi cried that she could see Annika through the crack and asked her not step on the coffee pot because it was an old well-mannered coffee pot that had never done anyone any harm, and it couldn't help that it didn't have a spout any longer. Annika went up to the tree trunk and through a little crack she saw the very tip of Pippi's finger. This comforted her a good deal, but she was still worried. Annika asked Pippi again if she could come up. Pippi's finger disappeared, and in less than a minute her face popped out of the hole up in the tree. She said that maybe she could if she tried very hard, and she parted the foliage with her hands.
