Words and Phrases
1.Time after time, it has triumphed against unbelievable odds.
Triumph:看到這個詞先想到的是它的名詞用法枣察,“偉大勝利”畔塔,但這里用為動詞玄坦,即~ (over sb / sth) to defeat sb / sth; to be successful 打敶渴辍编丘;戰(zhàn)勝肺稀;成功
e.g. I believe that sooner or later good must triumph over evil.
Odds: the probability that a particular thing will or will not happen
e.g. The odds are that she will win the writing competition.
這也讓我想到一個關(guān)于odds的詞組:be at odds,即與…
2.As a result, many people have become turned off by time management programs and planners.
Turn off:If something turns you off a particular subject or activity, it makes you have no interest in it.
e.g. What turns teenagers off literature and history?
3.They press on us;they insist on action.
Press on:If you press on or press ahead, you continue with a task or activity in a determined way, and do not allow any problems or difficulties to delay you.
4. But Quadrant I consumes many people.
If a feeling or idea consumes you, it affects you very strongly indeed.
e.g. The memories consumed him.
Thoughts
Habit 3put first thing first
