@TED: Loneliness doesn't always stem from being alone. For architect Grace Kim, loneliness is a function of how socially connected we feel to the people around us -- and it's often the result of the homes we live in. She shares an age-old antidote to isolation: cohousing, a way of living where people choose to share space with their neighbors, get to know them, and look after them. Rethink your home and how you live in it with this eye-opening talk.

Loneliness is harmful.
In 2015, Brigham Young University completed a study that showed a significant increase risk of premature death in those who were living in isolation. The US Surgeon General has declared isolation to be a public health epidemic. And this epidemic is not restricted to the US alone.
Cohousing is an antidote to isolation.
Cohousing is an intentional neighborhood where people know each other and look after one another.
The key secret of cohousing: Communitas
How to make it happen: public space
- big common house
- dine together in big kitchen
- kids plays in the courtyard
